The Relationship Engine for Campus

What if students arrived already knowing people?

Kindred forms small Circles around the transition into university, supports the earliest interactions, then reduces guidance as campus life takes over.

You already invest in welcoming a cohort. Kindred makes relationship formation a deliberate part of that transition, then measures what continued after handoff.

The value gap

You already invest in welcoming a cohort.

Small Circles give students a few people to start with. They are not a promise of friendship. You get a privacy-protected, aggregate view of what continued after handoff. It sits alongside orientation, residence and welcome activity rather than replacing them.

The student journey

From separate starting points into campus life.

  1. 01

    Before or around arrival

Circles form whenever the population is known. Timing flexes with admissions and offer cycles, not a fixed number of weeks.

  2. 02

    Arrival

A light journey: meet your Circle, swap first-week tips, pick a first meet up.

  3. 03

    Early term

Guidance reduces as students reach out on their own and campus life takes over.

  4. 04

    Handoff

Kindred steps back when the evidence supports it. An open safety case always blocks.

  5. 05

    7 / 30 / 90 days

A few optional questions about who students still know and contact.

Privacy by design

Institutions see the pattern, never the person.

  • Aggregate only

No individual social data, rankings or vulnerability flags are shown to the university.

  • Small groups hidden

Rates appear only with at least 10 respondents across at least 2 Circles. Otherwise: insufficient cohort size.

  • Consent first

Students opt in. Pair level answers stay private to the research process.

  • “Did early introductions continue after university life took over?”
  • “How many new connections were still in contact at day 30?”

What we do not claim

Kindred does not claim to improve retention, belonging, loneliness, wellbeing or academic performance. It measures relationship formation and whether contact continued after handoff.

Pilot with one intake

Start with one incoming cohort.

No rip-and-replace. No new community to maintain. One defined population, one measurable relationship journey.

Your team receives an aggregate, privacy-protected relationship outcome report at 7, 30 and 90 days after handoff.

We’re currently working with a small number of early partners.

  1. 1Choose one intake, programme or residence group
  2. 2Invite opted-in students when the cohort is known
  3. 3Kindred forms and guides small Circles
  4. 4Guidance reduces and hands off when criteria are met
  5. 5You receive 7/30/90-day aggregate outcome reporting
